First Design Schemes

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I got the two design “schemes” from the architects yesterday. They look very cool and one of them is definitely superior to the other one. I’m not sure if I can post these publicly yet, or if I should really. I think once we make some changes to it and then finalize, I’ll post pics of the drawings here.

New Rack Layout

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Matt asked me for an equipment list last week, so that we can get an idea for how much rackspace we’re going to need. I got it all into four 14-space racks, but not sure if it will have enough room to grow. I kept them to 14-spaces (short) because I think we’re going to be using the racks as a “Producer’s Desk” and usually a desk is about 30″ high or so. I’m thinking we should make it five racks instead of four…hmmm.

Existing Conditions Drawings Done

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Matt tells me that the “existing conditions” drawings are done and now he’s starting on “schemes” today. I guess the schemes are basically quick sketches, within the confines of the existing space, where they try to layout the studio in different configurations (based on the requirements I gave them in our meeting earlier this week).

Let’s Get Designin’!

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

I got a call from the Project Manager at WSDG for my project, Matt. We discussed my requirements for the new studio, as well as my tastes, etc. He took copious notes and sent them out to myself and John Storyk for our perusal. He asked for some more photos of the space and for any architectural plans I could get from the building owner. I took Jack over to take some pics, but they didn’t have any usable blueprints/plans at the building.
